By Car: Kalamata airport is an hour's drive from the Retreat. Car hire is available from the airport, or from Kardamili (www.mycarrentals.gr). A taxi from the airport to Kardamili costs about 45 euros. From Athens it is currently about a 3 hour drive to Kalamata on a good road and through some breath-taking mountain scenery. However, a new motorway is nearing completion which will reduce the travel time by at least one hour. A taxi from Athens to the Retreat is available through a company in Kalamata (Tel: 0030 6945 26 73 73) and costs approximately 200 euros. A "taxi share" i.e. sharing with other passengers, is a cheaper option and costs approximately 90 euros.
